The Ants and the Grasshopper
It is a fall day. The air is cool. On the tree, some of the leaves are not green anymore. The leaves are yellow and red. The ants are under the tree. The ants are busy. They move quickly. A grasshopper walks to the tree. He sees the ants. He says, “Ants, what are you doing?” The ants do not say anything. The grasshopper says, “Ants, do you hear me? What are you doing?” One ant stops what he is doing. The ant says, “Grasshopper we hear you. But we are busy. We cannot stop. We are moving our food to a safe place.” The grasshopper says, “Why do you move the food to a safe place?” The ant says, “Winter is coming. The air is cool. The leaves are not green anymore. We will save our food for winter.” The grasshopper says, “Oh no! I do not have any food for winter.” The ant says, “We ants have a lot of food. In the summer we save food every day. Grasshopper, what do you do in the summer?” The grasshopper says, “In the summer I sit in the sun. I play music!” The ant says, “Grasshopper, you need to save food! Then you can play music.” The end.
In this story, the grasshopper spent all his time in the summer having fun. He didn’t have any time left to save food. There is not only a time to play, but also a time to work.
